Description

Mathematics education can nowadays not been seen without technology. To ensure a strong connection between technology and math education, we advocate design research as a way to support development of technical tools and innovation of mathematics education at the same time.
Opportunities created by the DME for math education give rise to research questions. At the same time the use of the DME by design research contributes to the features of the digital environment. Many teaching modules have been developed and improved in research projects. Most of these research projects were based on a design research approach in which research and design went hand-in-hand. An example of a research project in which the DME plays a significant role is the Dutch part of the FaSMEd project (Formative Assessment in Science and Mathematics Education).
