Developing 17 game prototypes on climate change and food security (2018)

Activity: OtherTypes of External academic engagement - Research and Teaching at External Organisation

Description

"tudents of Utrecht University and the Utrecht School of the Arts worked
together to develop 17 game prototypes that explore various aspects of sustainability challenges,
many focusing specifically on food security under climate change. The project was a part of integrated
teaching between the two institutes - and focused on the idea that games are unique at combining
the representation of complex systems, storytelling, and putting various societal 'roles' and 'rules'
front and center. The games are the result of a week-long game jam followed by 1.5 months of further
development. Games cover a diversity of game types from games that represent global modals to
games focused on local agriculture. First prototypes can be found on the game platform.
