The European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI) hosted its 2024 Annual Seminar with Equality Bodies on 17-18 October 2024, in Strasbourg, commemorating 30 years of dedicated work in combating racism and intolerance across Europe. The event was organised in consultation with the European Network of Equality Bodies (EQUINET) and the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD). Under the theme "Exposing Racism, Intolerance, and Inequalities", this landmark seminar opened with prominent figures from the Council of Europe and the European Union. Among them were Bjørn Berge, Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Theodoros Rousopoulos, President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Michael O'Flaherty, Commissioner for Human Rights at the Council of Europe and Helena Dalli, European Union (EU) Commissioner for Equality. In addition, over 40 representatives from equality bodies across 35 member states, current and former ECRI members, high-level representatives of the European Court of Human Rights, the European Committee of Social Rights, EQUINET and CERD, academics and European civil society representatives participated in the seminar.
